Hispanic Heritage Night a new tradition
Ousley Junior High has a new tradition.
“We were excited to host our first Hispanic Heritage Night at Ousley Junior High,” Ousley’s principal Amber Price said about their special event last week. “We want to celebrate Hispanic culture on our campus.”
It may have been their first time, but they went all out. Students, teachers and parents made sure it was an evening to remember with art, dance and tasty treats.
“We showcased Hispanic literature through student readings, Hispanic art, the Sam Houston Mariachi Band, lotería played by parents, students and staff, and various treats donated by Marquez bakery,” Price said.
The turnout for the inaugural Hispanic Heritage Month event was strong, and Price expects the new tradition to carry on next year.
“We are proud of all our students at Ousley, and it is a privilege to serve a diverse community of culture.”
