The Bond & Beyond: A Reading Space Race is ready to launch on Sept. 14!
The Reading Space Race – sponsored by the Arlington ISD Education Foundation and Arlington ISD’s Family and Community Engagement Department – is officially coming to every elementary school and is open to all students in grades three through six.
The challenge runs from Sept 14, 2026 – Feb 19, 2027 and invites fathers, uncles, grandfathers, and male mentors to read alongside their students while reinforcing key classroom concepts like determining the author’s purpose. Plus, there are great prizes for reading (keep reading to find out what they are)!

Getting started is easy, and the incentives keep students motivated every step of the way:
- Download & Log: Download the free Beanstack App and search Arlington Public Library to track your books and read the full challenge rules.
- Earn Monthly Incentives:
- 3 Books: 30-minute jump pass (Launch Family Entertainment)
- 6 Books: 60-minute gameplay card (Dave & Buster’s)
- 9 Books: Free kids meal (Raising Cane’s)
- Cross the Finish Line: Log 12 books to earn an official Arlington Public Library Swag Bag and a spot on a paid celebratory field trip to Camp Thurman for father/father figure or caregiver and student! The Camp Thurman Celebration takes place on Saturday, April 3, 2027.
