Seguin High Schools’ Dr. Shana Moore named Region 11 High School Assistant Principal of the Year
Posted in on September 29, 2025

Seguin High School assistant principal Dr. Shana Moore considers herself “more of a background person.”

But her incredible work on behalf of students – often behind the scenes – has been brought to the foreground.

In fact, the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals recently named Moore the High School Assistant Principal of the Year.

Moore called the win a “shock and a humbling recognition.” But it wasn’t a shock to Seguin principal Billy Linson.

“Dr. Moore’s ability to connect with students – especially those who need it most – is truly remarkable,” Linson said. “She sees potential where others might see problems, and she works tirelessly to ensure every student feels seen, heard, and valued. Her leadership has helped shape a culture of high expectations and deep care at Seguin.”

Moore joined Seguin’s administration team in 2022 after serving as an assistant principal at Workman Junior High from 2018-2022 and as a teacher from 2014-2018. Winning the AP of the Year award reminded her of why she chose a career in education.

“Winning our region’s award also reaffirms why I chose educational leadership in the first place,” Moore said. “I am constantly reminded that leading with vision, equity, and heart really does make a difference. It encourages me to keep championing for every student and supporting teachers so they can thrive alongside their students.”

For Moore, it really is all about students.

“What motivates me as an AP will always be our students,” Moore said. “I believe wholeheartedly that everything I say and do has the power to create opportunities that can change the trajectory of their lives. The responsibility to serve as a role model, to advocate for equity, and to build systems that help both our students and teachers flourish is what drives me every day.”

She believes her honor isn’t just about what she has done, but it’s also about a culture built by the staff at Seguin.

“This award truly reflects the incredible work happening at Seguin and the unwavering dedication of our principal, admin team, and staff to create a culture where every student and teacher feels seen, supported, and capable of success,” Moore said.

Moore will be honored this summer at TASSP’s annual Summer Conference.
