Watch Board Brief from trustees meeting on April 23, 2026
Posted in on April 24, 2026

The Arlington ISD’s Board of Trustees meeting on April 23, 2026, is in the books, and here are a few of the highlights.

Crouch Elementary sixth grader Italia Hernandez started the meeting by leading everyone in the pledges of allegiance. Italia did a great job!

Then the board honored a special group of high school students – some of the district’s brightest academic scholars: National Merit Finalists and Commended Students, along with each high school’s top two College Board-recognized students. These two College Board-recognized students also earned the highest two scores on the PSAT at their schools. These are amazing juniors and seniors who are going to do great things! Congratulations to all of them!

After the Board Honors, the trustees received the spring demographic report from Zonda Education, with updates related to enrollment patterns and projections, local demographics, student mobility, housing data, and the growth of online education in Texas. This information helps the district with long-term planning related to facilities, zoning, staffing, and more.

Then Cindy Brown, the district’s director of special education, gave an annual report on the special education program. Arlington ISD has nearly 8,000 incredible students currently enrolled in special education, and the district is committed to giving every one of them an outstanding educational experience. The presentation reviewed areas of growth and opportunity, along with the department’s strategic plan of action.

The board also received a financial update and approved the district’s monthly financial report through February, along with a preliminary report on the 2026-2027 budget.

Finally, district administration presented a report on a proposal for a principal incentive program that could contribute to improved student outcomes and overall campus performance, while strategically prioritizing talent and resources.

Those are just a few of the items that were on the agenda. If you’d like more information on any of these or any of the items not covered in the Board Brief, please click here to watch the entire meeting.
