What’s Your Big Idea?
Arlington ISD students have lots of great ideas – the kinds of ideas that could change the world.
That’s why Arlington ISD is partnering again with the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce for the annual “What’s Your Big Idea?” Entrepreneurship Contest.
The contest is designed to inspire students from third through 12th grade to come up with entrepreneurial ideas that could impact our local community and the entire world.
“Whether it’s an innovative product, a groundbreaking service, or a unique social enterprise, this contest encourages students to dream big and develop business concepts that have the potential to make a positive impact on their communities and beyond,” said Michael Jacobson, Chamber of Commerce president and CEO.
Elementary and Junior High WYBI? Contest
To participate in the contest, each elementary or junior high student shares their big idea in the form of an original advertisement or essay describing a product they could sell or a business they could create.
Big ideas are due by Wednesday, Nov. 4. Students can submit their ideas at school with help from their teachers, or parents can help students submit their ideas from home online.

Elementary submissions can be made online here.
Finalists will be announced the week of Dec. 14 and invited to attend the Awards Ceremony on Jan. 20, 2027, at UT Arlington’s College Park. All finalists will be recognized on-stage with a commemorative medal. First, second, and third place winners for each grade and category will receive a trophy, t-shirt, and a prize package with donations from Arlington businesses. First-pace winners will also receive a scholarship to attend a one-week summer camp, “The Big Idea Lab,” where they will learn what it means to be an entrepreneur.
High School WYBI? Contest
Arlington ISD high school students participate in an elevated version of the contest they did in elementary and junior high school. Working in teams of three-five, students develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges that our community faces. The high school teams must submit their solution by March 7.
Detailed guidelines, resources and updates can be found at arlingtontx.com/bigidea.
The top winners and two guests will be invited to a private recognition ceremony in April 2027. Winners will also receive a prize package, including gift certificates to local entertainment and restaurants.
Inspiring the Future
Managed by the Chamber of Commerce’s Partners in Education Committee and Arlington ISD’s Career and Technical Education department, the What’s Your Big Idea? contest teaches students the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and provides them with essential skills needed for any career they may choose in the future.
