Assessment results provide valuable information that helps educators, students, and families understand student learning and make informed decisions to support academic success. Because no single assessment provides a complete picture of student performance, assessment results should be considered alongside classroom observations, student work, and other evidence of learning.
Assessment data is used to:
- Inform Instruction by identifying student strengths, areas for growth, and opportunities to adjust teaching to meet student needs.
- Guide Intervention and Enrichment by determining which students may benefit from additional support or extended learning opportunities.
- Support Goal Setting by helping students, families, and educators establish meaningful learning goals and monitor progress over time.
- Monitor Student Growth by measuring progress toward academic standards and evaluating the effectiveness of instructional practices and programs.
Assessment data should not be used as the sole measure of a student's ability, teacher effectiveness, or overall school quality. Important educational decisions should be based on multiple sources of evidence rather than a single assessment result.
