10th annual Back to School Kickoff
The 10th annual Arlington ISD Back to School Kickoff is just over two weeks away and anticipation is building.
The proof is in the numbers as we inch toward Saturday, Aug. 3, at AT&T Stadium.
Every free haircut spot has been claimed. Every free vision screening spot has been claimed. Every free dental checkup spot has been claimed.
And more than 6,000 student spots for free backpacks filled with age-appropriate school supplies have already been grabbed.
But there’s still time to register to get your backpack for the event, which runs from 8 a.m. until noon. You can register to receive a backpack for your Arlington ISD student here.
Just like every year, the Back to School Kickoff is about more than backpacks. There will be more than 90 resource vendors set up on the west plaza of AT&T Stadium ready to get you prepared for the school year.
The turf field outside will also be used for activities and there will be a DJ and live music. When you’re celebrating the 10th anniversary and nearing 100,000 backpacks provided, you’ve got to go big.
“It’s hard to believe we’ve been at this for 10 years,” said Aaron Perales, Arlington ISD’s executive director of engagement, equity and access. “The event continues to grow because of our sponsors, volunteers and community support. Everyone is here to help our students and families have a great beginning to the school year. The kickoff is a great way to get the year started.”
Even if you don’t have a student needing a backpack, you can still help. More than 600 people have already signed up for a volunteer spot, but we can always use more. You can volunteer here.
We’ll see you Aug. 3!
