The Arlington ISD announced Dr. Jennifer Collins as its new deputy superintendent today. Collins has held positions in two Metroplex districts, including assistant superintendent for education services in the Highland Park ISD and director of student services in the Northwest ISD.

Beginning as a classroom teacher, Collins taught sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students in the Sunnyvale, Fort Worth and Marshall ISDs. From 2004-2022, Collins held progressive positions in the Leander ISD, including elementary language arts facilitator, reading improvement and dyslexia coordinator, executive director of elementary curriculum and assistant superintendent for curriculum.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to be selected to serve the Arlington community,” said Collins. “I look forward to getting to know the Arlington ISD staff, students and family members and learning more about the remarkable education provided to the Arlington ISD community. I also look forward to partnering with Dr. Smith and the board of trustees to meet the needs of every student.”

Arlington ISD Superintendent Dr. Matt Smith said Collins brings invaluable experience that will benefit Arlington ISD students. “Dr. Collins has a laser focus on student growth and achievement. She is a proven leader, strategic thinker and community builder. She’s just what we need to help Arlington ISD students and staff exceed their potential.”

Collins received a bachelor’s in elementary education from East Texas Baptist University, a master’s in curriculum and instruction from UT Arlington, and a doctorate in education from Texas A&M-Commerce. She also completed the Principal Certification program at Lamar University.

Collins is set to start her new position as deputy superintendent on Monday, July 22.
