Human trafficking is real in DFW
The World Cup has arrived in Arlington. While it’s bringing lots of excitement, it may also bring an increased risk for human trafficking.
Arlington ISD is committed to the safety and well-being of every student, and that includes helping families stay informed about serious issues like human trafficking.
The district has launched a new webpage dedicated to human trafficking awareness, prevention, and resources for parents and families.
With major events like the World Cup bringing increased attention and visitors to the Arlington area, the risk of trafficking may be greater than ever in our community, and that means awareness is more important than ever. Human trafficking can happen in any community and often targets young people through manipulation, relationships, or online platforms. The new webpage provides:
- A clear explanation of what human trafficking is
- Warning signs families should watch for
- Guidance on how to talk to children about safety
- Local and national resources for help
- Steps to report suspected trafficking
Arlington ISD encourages all parents and caregivers to review the resources and have ongoing conversations with their children about safety, especially online safety and healthy relationships.
