Winners received scholarships
Every year, as part of the annual Advancing the Dream Celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., students from the area can participate in art and essay contests.
This year, all three winners in both the art and essay contests come from the Arlington ISD. Each first-place winner received a $1,000 scholarship. Second-place finishers received $750 scholarships and third-place finishers earned $500 scholarships. In addition to that, the winner of the art contest has their artwork used on all the promotional items for the event.
