Back to School Kickoff Volunteer

Back to School Kickoff is Aug. 5 at AT&T Stadium

There’s now less than a month before the ninth annual Arlington ISD Back to School Kickoff event at AT&T Stadium, but there’s still plenty of time to help.

The event, which is slated for 8-11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, is a chance for 10,000 Arlington ISD students to get backpacks filled with school supplies for the upcoming school year.

So, where do you fit in?

In addition to being able to contribute money to buy a backpack, you can also contribute your time by volunteering to help at the event.

There are tons of volunteer options, too. You can help distribute backpacks, work at the resource fair, help distribute water, register students to pick up backpacks or just be a floater. The options are endless, and so is the flexibility to help timewise. There are shifts that start at 7 a.m. and others that don’t start until after 10 a.m.

It takes more than 800 volunteers to make the event run smoothly, and we can still use more than 300, especially in our backpack check-in area.

“The volunteers at our event are crucial to its success,” said Aaron Perales, the Arlington ISD executive director of engagement, equity and access. “We’re fortunate to see familiar faces and organizations helping, but it takes a lot of support.”

If you would like to volunteer at the event, please sign up here. The deadline to sign up is Aug. 2. All volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

There’s also still time to register to receive a backpack. You can do that here.
