Science

Grade 8 Science is organized into recurring strands. Concepts build on prior knowledge and prepare students for the next grade level and establish a foundation for high school courses. Topics include; matter and energy; force, motion, and energy; Earth and space and; organisms and environments. The student, for at least 40% of instructional time, asks questions, identifies problems, and plans and safely conducts classroom, laboratory, and field investigations to answer questions, explain phenomena, or design solutions using appropriate tools and models.

Advanced Science

Advanced science will focus on the same TEKS prescribed by the State of Texas for the grade level but will emphasize advanced application and science skills. Students will be challenged to become critical thinkers through analysis, synthesis and evaluation of higher order thinking with instruction designed at a greater depth in order to prepare for Advanced Placement® (AP), International Baccalaureate® (IB), and/or Dual Credit courses.
