Fun event promotes literacy
Once upon a time in a land far away …
Actually, the time is next Monday, April 14, from 5-7 p.m. And it’s not so far away – it’ll be at the Arlington ISD Professional Development Center.
But it will be magical and a very special time with your little ones. Plus, it’s free!
“We are getting close to end of the school year, and in Arlington ISD we want to do a Royal Event to celebrate the hard work and extraordinary achievements of all our current pre-K and kinder students,” said the magical queen of Once Upon a Time – also known as Dr. Jackeline Orsini, Arlington ISD director of early childhood learning. “It’s also going to be a majestic celebration to welcome all new Arlington ISD pre-K and kinder students who will be joining us for the 2025-2026 school year.”
Join us for Once Upon a Time and take a whimsical adventure with your current or rising pre-K and kindergarten children and dive into the enchanting world of fairytales. Dress up as a princess, prince or your favorite fairytale character for a fun evening filled with storytelling, games, crafts and more.
The event is designed to encourage a love of reading for little learners and to help parents foster learning at home. The PDC will be transformed into an Enchanted Forest to surprise all Arlington ISD young learners with activities we have designed for families to learn more about how to help young learners read and write from a very early stage. Guest will participate in read-aloud sessions and hands-on literacy activities, get free books and snacks, take beautiful pictures, and much more.
“It’s so important to promote early literacy,” Orsini said. “Early literacy helps children in so many ways, including language development, social and emotional learning, communication skills and so much more.”
