Sign up now for Taste of Arlington ISD
In Arlington ISD, anything is pasta-ble!
Get it? It’s a food pun. And in the Arlington ISD, we love to showcase the outstanding food options available for our students.
That’s why the district’s food and nutrition services department is hosting its first-ever Taste of Arlington ISD event at Seguin High School this month.
Event Details
Join us on Tuesday, July 30, from 5-7 p.m. to treat your taste buds to a variety of FREE dishes created by Arlington ISD’s By Students 4 Students program.
“We have four goals for the Taste of Arlington ISD,” said executive director of food and nutrition services David Lewis.
The goals are:
- Share the talent of high school culinary teams with the community.
- Keep parents and students excited about the continual changes being made through the By Students 4 Students menu concept.
- Inspire this year’s culinary teams to create recipes for next year and inspire additional Arlington ISD alumni with restaurants in Arlington to join the By Students 4 Students program.
- Provide an opportunity for families to apply for 2024-25 meal benefits.
With 12 menu items available for tasting, there is something for everyone. Cajun chicken alfredo, calzones and the famous “Prince Inspired” shawarma wings from Prince Lebanese Grill are just a few you can expect in Arlington ISD schools this year.
Lewis got the idea for the event from another successful district event – early childhood’s Pre-K Palooza. It’s a free event that covers everything pre-K.
“We thought, what kind of event can we put on to register students for meal benefits and showcase the tremendous talent of our culinary students?” Lewis said.
Many of the items you can sample started as ideas in culinary classes in our high schools. Students took those concepts and turned them into tasty menu items now served in our schools.
